User Profile Importing

We are in the process of migrating from an NT Domain to Active Directory and
have move our SharePoint Portal 2003 to Active Directory. So far so good.

I started an Import of User Profiles before thinking. After the import
reached 18000 records I stopped the import. It was importing profiles from
the AD Forrest instead of from our OU.

Two questions:

1. Is there a way to do a bulk delete of profiles from the database instead
of having to go through 352 pages of profiles and check each one?

2. I tried modifying the search base to include OU's for our subunit and
used this filter from the Resource Kit page 637:
(&(objectCategory=Person)(objectClass=User)(
!(userAccount-Control:1.2.840.113556.1.4.803:=2)))
but it will not take. It throws an error:
A test import based on current input returned no results. Please re-check
the search base and filter.

I have managed to modify the Search Base to include our OU but there is a
problem with our OU in that it is two words separated by a space.
Consequently, profiles are pulled in from any OU that matches the first word
in our OU name.
Where do I go from here?

We have not found one and would be interested to know !!

In our experience we see that after 3(?) further imports on a more
restricted basis the superfluous profiles will be categorised as
"missing" and thus not active.

However, what we also see is that this is done by adding a "bdeleted"
tag against the profiles and guess what the search service still indexes
them.....So much for using a "people" scope as an accurate company
phonebook search !!

Anyway if you are ok with having lots of garbage in as "missing" or not
"active" then you need not worry. Otherwise it is a little api utility
to delete all of the bdeleted tagged profiles. If someone can confirm
our thinking that would be great or actually we would be grateful for
someone to say we are wrong with our assumptions.

I found a fix. I narrowed my Search Base, used
(&(objectCategory=person)(objectClass=user)(
!(userAccountControl:1.2.840.113556.1.4.803:=2))) as the filter, and then
scheduled a Full Import to run at night. Today when I go to Manage Profile
Database it tells me there are 7810 users profiles but only lists 344 Active
user Profiles.

Just for information, wait for it to run 3 times and see if that makes a
difference also. I have so much Sharepoint s**t detail buzzing through
my head that I sometimes am not sure, but on this point I did think that
it took 3x imports to mark something as missing (or not active)
