User Feedback form

Asked By: Mack    Date: Dec 03    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1454

Some of the areas in the intranet I am working on requires user
feedback form. Additionaly I am also looking at creating interface in
the intranet where users can register themselves for various events.
In registration of events - the interface needs to remain "active"
for a certain period of time and not allow users to input information
in "inactive" periods.

The information being put in these forms need to be delivered to
certain individuals through email and also stored in the database for
future references and querying.

Some part of the functionality can be achieved within Sharepoint by
using custom lists.

One can create a custom list, the data entry interface of which can
then be used for entering the information. Some of the individuals
who should be recieving emails can go and setup alerts on the list so
that when anyone enters information in the list an email goes to
those individuals. To avoid general users from viewing information,
the list can be modified to show data for a certain colulmn equal to
a value which we know will never exist and thus displaying the list
as empty.

Some of the things about which I am not sure of in Sharepoint Portal
Server

- How will we control the "alert me" access to only some users.

- In a normal feedback form the user is usually taken to a screen
with a Thank you or to some other interface from where they initially
clicked on the link to invoke the data entry form. With using a
custom list the user will be shown a list that will be empty. This
may turn out to be a little confusing for an end user. Can this be
avoided and instead the user taken to some other page.

- For people who have access to data of the list, how will they see
the information at a later point in time.
