User Authentication Problem unique to a computer

Asked By: Keon Melendez         Date: Jan 22, 2005      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 234

I have a user who is asked for credentials when going to our SharePoint
site. Domain Users by default should have Reader access. The NT
Security Event Log on the SharePoint server shows the username as the
computername with a trailing $. If the same user goes to another
computer and logs in, they can access SharePoint with no prompting for
credentials. The NT Security Event Log shows just the regular username,
not the computername$.

Any ideas?

Is the "problem" computer  a member of the domain?

Is the user  logging on with a domain  account or a local machine account?

Using a domain  account. My guess so far is that the profile may be
corrupted.

We are going to try creating a new profile for this user. We use local
profiles.
