Upgrading from WSS v.2 to MOSS 2007 Best Practice

Asked By: Marie Stephens         Date: Feb 09, 2007      Category: MOSS      Views: 293

I have a small issue and it is just to see what path is the best
practice.

I need to upgrade a WSS v.2 site to MOSS 2007

Should I first upgrade to WSS v.3 then MOSS 2007

Or

Should I first upgrade SharePoint Portal Server 2003 then to MOSS 2007.

Thanks for any advice. Is there any Pros or Cons to one of these paths
over the other?

Since the Shared Services model is completely different in Office
SharePoint Server 2007, I would upgrade to WSSv3 then to MOSS07 if you
like your current topology.

If you want to redesign your topology and if your Site Collections are
in different content databases, then you could build a new MOSS07
solution and connect to the old databases as appropriate.
