upgrade my databases first to 64 bit (Windows 2008 R2 and SQL server
2005) if my current MOSS 2007 32 bit system (and other 32 bit
applications) will work.

Here is my scenario. I currently have a small test farm that consists
of 1 MOSS server and 1 SQL server. Both are 32 bit systems. I have been
given the OK to start the upgrade of our test system. Currently our test
MOSS farm shares a backend SQL server with other 32 bit applications. We
will want to upgrade our SQL server to 64 bit SQL server 2005, but will
need to know if MOSS 2007 32 bit and other 32 bit applications should

I know you cannot tell me if the applications WILL work, but could you
tell me if logically they should work?

Short answer: it's SQL Server. The client apps don't know and don't care
