Upgrading the Macaw Discussion Board template to WSS V3 (2007)

I know many of you out there have implemented Serge van den Oever's
Macaw Discussion Board in your WSS V2 STS environment
(weblogs.asp.net/.../385523.aspx) to
replace the OOTB Discussion Board. Some of us were able to figure out
STP basics to be able to leverage the template for SPS portal areas and
even in custom site definitions (STS2).

With WSS V3, I want to revert back to the default. I've been able
to "re-ghost" many of the pages for the lists, but the EditForm.aspx
and NewForm.aspx are proving to be rather painful.

Has anybody successfully mapped the custom template back to a native
OOTB discussion board in WSS V3 (2007)?
