Upgrade to SQL 2005

I know there had been some discussion regarding upgrading the SQL DB to 2005 and the issues surrounding it. Has anyone successfully migrated to SQL 2005, or anyone tried and scrapped the idea? We are thinking of building a new farm and the data guys want to use 2005 if possible.

I have been looking around for the past hour and it appears that the issues with the initial upgrades were remedied by SP2 ...

it was completely painless for our organization. we do stay within
the support boundries however. it was also a 2 node active/
passive cluster.

I think it works fine as long as you can get the permissions right. I have a post about this on my blog.
