Upgrade.exe issues

  Asked By: Maurice    Date: May 29    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1555

I'm currently in the process of upgrading SPS 2001 SP3 to SPS 2003.
Following the 'Migration From SPS 2001 to SPS 2003 whitepaper' and i'm stuck
at Procedure 4: Upgrade the SPS 2001 document store to the SPS 2003
backward-compatible doc store. The setup fails to install the
backward-compatible doc store with the following msg in the error logs.

[02/16/05,18:45:23] SharePoint Portal Server Document Library
Component: [0] CPkmSetupComponent::InstallMSIPackage, MSI Package
(spsclisrv) setup failed with error code 0x80070643.
Command=msiexec.exe. Args= /i "C:\Program Files\SharePoint Portal
Server\Bin\spsclisrv.msi" /q /l*v "C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Integration\Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 Doc
Library\Logs\spsclisrv.Log" Reboot="ReallySuppress"

Any ideas will be much appreciated.

I haven't
seen the error 0x80070643 before. Googling for it shows that error code
mostly occurs with Windows Update issues  on WinXP.

That being said, try checking out:

I would also post your query to the microsoft.public.sharepoint.portalserver
NNTP newsgroup. There have been similar posting there but unfortunately not
very many replies. Mention this in your posting ...there's usually a few
MS PSS people lurking around that newsgroup.
