Updating multivalue fields in sharepoint

  Asked By: Kavisha    Date: Nov 28    Category: MOSS    Views: 2013

I am trying to update a list with choice or look up columns enabled using
the update query in MOSS.

I am trying to update the list with about 4000 items using the method
specified at office.microsoft.com/.../HA101492971033.aspx.

I only get the "you are about to update 0 row(s)." error while using the
following query from MS Access 2007.

UPDATE Contacts SET Contacts.[Contact Type].[Value] = 5
WHERE (((Contacts.[Contact Type].Value) Is Null));

It looks like you need to make sure that field values are actually null
(which it sounds like they are not). Do a simple SELECT query  on a few of
the records you plan to update, and see what the fields  hold.
