Need to update 150 WSS 2.0 sites

Asked By: Bennie    Date: Mar 21    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1448

We currently have a sharepoint 2.0 environment that we have a page with a
dataview webpart on. There is conditional formatting in this webpart that is
incorrect and needs to be updated. The problem is that this page resides on 150
distinct sites. I'm wondering if there is an easier way of updating these 150
pages than either a)doing them all individually through frontpage or b)creating
a .NET app to do a 'Find & Replace' on them.

Is the DVWP exactly the same on each page? If so, you could fix one,
export it out, then use something to add that web part to all of your
pages. I think there are tools out there that will do that.

I wish that were the case, but no. There is a hard coded parameters in the
query for each dataview web part.

There is no direct way to update  the DVWPs. It seems that you may need to
update the pages individually. I don't know that there is a programatic way to
make those changes. You would have to pose that question to a seasoned
SharePoint developer.
