Unique Site Property

Asked By: Shikha Talpade         Date: Mar 26, 2010      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 209

we are creating a hierarchy of sites and appling different custom
template , so is there a way to uniquely identify the sites??

Lets say if there is a site from template A then can it be
differntiated from other site based on template chosen when accessing
the site from custom web parts.

Right now we are using a text file which is saved in template and
title tells the type of site,is there any other sophisticated way of
implementing it.

I am not sure regarding diffferentiating through templates, but we had similar
problem in which we had two types of sites  on same level ,hence were not bale to
understand what sites it was .So we used the property  called description .For
One particular type  of site  we gave description as "Region" and another as
"Account" ,By checking the description property we came to know the type of site

Hope this is valid solution for your problem
