Some users are suddenly getting this error Message:

"An unexpected error occurred.

caused by the proxy server settings for the dashboard. Contact your
server administrator. If you are a server administrator, configure the
proxy server settings by using the proxycfg utility. Consult the product
documentation and the readme for more information about configuring the

Are they accessing  the server  by netbios name, host name, or FQDN? If it is only
'some' users, typically this occurs because the name they are using does not
appear in their bypass list in their browser.

there was a posting earlier this month about that. If you use FQDN and have
no proxy  then you have to give your non-existent proxy the name "fake_proxy"
and add the domain name to the bypass list wich would then be something like
"139.1. ..." or the realised name "adventureworks.com". Be sure to enlist
this via the command prompt. You will have to do this in the Bin-folder of
Sharepoint with the proxycfg.exe. How you do this, you will find in the Help
of the MMC for Sharepoint.
