Unable to Add user to a SP Site using STSADM.exe

I have installed wss 3.0 recently using 'Farm install', but my WSS and SQL
both r on same system (Single Server) so that WSS DB could be created into
Defautl Sql instance not in the SQL Micro Edition( which is the case with BASIC
Option on Single server).
When I m adding a user to a SP stie using STSADM.exe I m getting the error
'Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))'
I have successfully created the site using STSADM tool but unable to add user
note: Previously I installed WSS 3.0 with local SQL using BASIC Install and
having same error.I am running 'Sharepoint Central Admin Site App Pool' Under
WssPoolDB Account and my WSS timer service is also runnign under that account. I
m unable to start the search service on this server with this new Farm install,
while earlier i successfully ran this service when used BASIC install option.
Can anyone help?

This may be stupidly obvious, but does the crawl account have access to the
content?

Also, have you disabled the loopback "protection" feature?

weblogs.asp.net/.../service-packs-and-registr\
y-hacks.aspx

I managed to remove this error by running the stsadm.exe using same user as as
is the user running the App Pool of sharepoint Central Administration site.
