Unable to search list in MOSS

I am a new user to SharePoint 2007. I am unable to get my search to
crawl attachments in custom lists. Do I need to create a crawl rule to
enable attachment crawling?

I am having a similar issue. When I search  a list  in moss  the link
comes back with what appears to be the list item id in the url. When
the url is clicked the link is broken.

Microsoft had me rebuild my search database. No luck. They claim it
is a VMWare issue.
