Unable to load dll (osafehtm.dll)

Asked By: Cyrus Blackburn         Date: Mar 27, 2005      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 270

We recently installed the SQL client tools on our SPS 2003 server so
we could back up the DBs. Unfortunately, after doing so, we get the
following error: unable to load dll (osafehtm.dll) whenever we try
to
compose a new News item.

This happened on both our production and test SPS 2003 servers. Does
anyone know what this means or how I can fix it?

Sorry if I sent anyone on a quest to find an answer on this one. I
was able to find a resolution posted on:
www.toomuchcode.net/2005/05/sharepoint_coul.html

The problem was a registry key was changed when I installed  the SQL
client tools. The key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE : SOFTWARE : Microsoft :
Windows : CurrentVersion : CommonFilesDir should be pointing to
c:\program files\common files. (mine had been changed to U:\program
files\common files)
