Unable to access Shared Services

Asked By: Cleveland    Date: Jan 14    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 3156

I have Administrative Rights on a server in which MOSS is installed. So
I believe I am able to access the Central Administration site though it was
not created with my user account. But I am not able to access Shared
Services, inspite of being a Server Administrator. Can anyone tell me whats
wrong. For your information, I also added myself as a member of all the
groups like IIS_WPG, WSS_ADMIN_WPG and so on. Please help me.

What do you mean when you say "I believe I am able to access  the Central
Administration site"? Can you access it, or not?

Yes, I can.....................

In Central Administration, go to site  collection administrators and find the SSP
admin site collection. Add your account  there and see if you can successfully
logon to SSP administration. Once there, you may need to go to personalization
permissions and further increase your access.

Like any other Site collection each SSP has it's own set of administrators. You
need to be added  as an admin by the person who created  the SSP.

Your question is a little unclear. I'm not sure whether your problem is
with just accessing the Shared Services Administration site  or the whole
Central Administration site.

Are you in the "Farm Administrators" group? If not, you can get another
Farm admin to add you and then your problem should be solved.
