Two front ends and one backend Sql Server

Asked By: Salvatore    Date: Jul 30    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2101

I have reviewed the documentation and not one document
says that you can attach to “different” front end
SharePoint servers to one SQL Server for the backend.
We have a Human Resources SharePoint “Front End” and a
Knowledge base document SharePoint “Front End” both of
these will attach to a SQL Server “Back End”. Should I
create two instances of SQL Server database.

In theory it sounds perfect but has anyone done this
configuration.

I can't answer your question, but I would love to talk to you about your
knowledge base  document "front end." Can we set up a phone chat?

I actually answered it myself...sometimes you have to
rely on the old knoggin...<S>

We do have a very large knowledge base...but I am so
busy...once in awhile I get to have fun on this
site...and help or be helped..

What do you need to know about knowledge base.

Please go ahead and to it there wont' be any problem. if the database server  is
not running any thing else other then sql  server.

I have my windows sharepoint  sites running on one front  end server and the
sharepoint portal runner on another front end server. I do have two diffrent
configuration database.

I have two different FE servers  that use the same backend  database ..
each FE server  is unique and points to different Content DB's .... works
fine ...

I eventually will load balance my FE servers so that their IIS metabases
are identical .... this will allow for outward scalability and also so
that I can bring one down for maintenance without loss of service ...
