Twitter-like list

Asked By: Ronak    Date: Jan 16    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 968

I'd like to create a simple list that will act somewhat like Twitter…
I'd like to have a web part on My Site so that I can entry my "What I'm
doing… " with another web part that would display the last "n" entries
into the list. Any ideas?

I would think this would be as easy as creating a list  that has at least
one column that is a single line of text. Then add a List View web  part
for that list wherever you want to display  the "tweets" and change the
view to only show the last "n" number of entries.

The issue is putting the form and list  view on the My Site. I guess I
haven't done that before.

A public or private My Site? Public is going to be an issue, as changes
there appear for all users. Private wouldn't be any different than any
other site, just make sure to create  the list  in the My site  itself.

What I'd really like to do is
1) create  a TWITTER-like list  that has corporate-wide contribute access.
2) Add a web  part to My Site that would allow me to create a new item in the
list. As the My Site and TWITTER-like list would be on different farms I can
see how this might be an issue.
3) Add a web part  to My Site that would display  the last "n" items of the
TWITTER-like list, so that as members of the corporation add their TWITTER-like
items I'm constantly seeing the last "n" items.
