Trying to understand a few basics

For a sharepoint2003 collaboration portal are .doc files stored in a
Windows 2003 File Server or in SQL Server database as BLOBs?

Can SharePoint do replication of selected .doc files between
servers?

Am looking for info on file transfer protocols in sharepoint any
ideas of sources for info?

Doc files are stored as BLOBs in SQL. You must use the web folder
client to transfer files.
