Trouble with Web Part

Asked By: Jeramy    Date: Mar 02    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 917

We are able to add the solution (stsadm -o addsolution) and deploy the
solution just fine (stsadm -deploysolution or through Central Admin).
But when we try to add the web part to a page, we get a security error.
It is either a .Net error that says something like

System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type
'Microsoft.SharePoint.Security.SharePointPermission,
Microsoft.SharePoint.Security, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' failed.

Or sometimes we get a pop-up window that says: " Unable to add selected
web part(s). List Item Archiver: A web part or web form control on the
page cannot be displayed or imported. The type is not registered as
safe. Archive List Displayer: A web part or web form control on this
page cannot be displayed or imported. The type is not registered as
safe."

This is happening all of our environments where the trust level in the
web.config file is set to WSS_Custom. We are able to get around the
error by changing the trust level to Full in the web.config file. So
the problem appears to be related to adding this web part to the safe
control list in the web.config file.

Does anyone know how to get this to register properly? I am not too
familiar with the .net registration process.
