This is an excellent article, and i can see where it would give some
ideas on other applications as mentioned in the closing of the
article. However I am having trouble getting the solution to work. the
problem comes when i try and modify the javascript for the onClick
event. as suggested the end result should be similar to:

javascript: {ddwrt:GenFireServerEvent(concat('__workflowStart=
{{7696F6EA-2079-4A53-A97B-CE61D99A02AB},New,
{66402E3B-C94E-4E6F-9936-10E596CC5795},ClassID=',@ID,'
}__redirect={MyClasses.aspx}'))}

when i update the onClick event i get the following error within the
data view:

sharepoint designer cannot render the XSLT in this Data View. Try to
undo your changes or re-insert the Data View.
