When I then add the user into a WSS site under our portal, she is added under her old surname??

Asked By: Tara    Date: Oct 29    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 736

user had been updated in Active directory 2K3, and I'm unable to
update the users in sharepoint.

Deleted user from the profile database, and did an incremental import
into sharepoint, and the user credentials show correctl with her new

When I then add the user into a WSS site under our portal, she is
added under her old surname??? what do I need to delete/change?

It shows correctly in the profile DB, but not when adding the user.

Look at http://[server name]/sites/[site name]/_layouts/[LCID]/siteusrs.aspx and make sure the old name has been deleted  there.

Try to go to ./_layouts/1033/siteusrs.aspx on your wss  site and remove the user  from the list...

then try and see if it shows  corrected...

I had this same problem in WSS, but there is an easier way to do this
without touching the database. Just go to the site  Administration page
(or Top-Level Site Administration if it's a subweb with inherited
security), and click on the "View site collection user  information"
link towards the bottom of the page. If you delete the user from
there, it will actually delete it from the database  (not just
inactivate it). Plus, you can rename the user from here, too.

This fixed my error.

There is also a utility for managing
User accounts called WSSUserUtil and SPSUserUtil for Wss and
Portal ,respectively. and you can use STSADMN -o migrateuser as well.

I can't take credit for this knowledge, but Keith richie can. Here's
his blog post detailing your options in the future. SPSUserUtil is
very handy!

Drat, just saw this. I back this up, it works well.

The “migration” function will migrate from old username to new. This is how we handle name changes and it’s much easier than removing the old user  and adding  the new one.
