Test Environments

Asked By: Tyson    Date: Jan 08    Category: MOSS    Views: 567

I was curious how many people have test portals set up on one or more
server. I have the opportunity to have my own SP portal away from the PROD
environment. There are still some aspects of MOSS 2007 not fully... realized
at my job. I figure if I can create a working SP site it would be much
easier to sell the decision makers on on implementing the full functionality
of 2007.

I have used couple virtual environments  as testing portal  for both
2003 and 2007. For some unknown reason, I have to rebuilt some of the
virtual ones since they could not talk to AD domain. I think it's a
pretty good idea to have a test/dev environment.

We have a Dev, Test and Prod environments  setup for our SDLC, each with
different servers.

We even figured out that making a prototype kind of site is pretty easy with
Sharepoint and that helps in selling it to the decision makers.
