ok.. we put the cart before the horse so to speak (not my idea, im here to fix a mess really) and added content without first establishing the templates on the filesystem for SPPS..
So now that I have my shiny new SPS templates is there a trick to getting the existing areas to use them instead of the one it was originally provisioned with?

You can always create new areas  and move the data/configuration – WinAppTechnology Echo or CorasWorks DataPublisher may be of help.

yeah, basically i do not want anyone editing the default templates  (SPS, SPSTOPIC etc.). the developer is stating that we will have to re-migrate content  if we want to use the SPSXXX custom templates..

i will look into those projects though,
