Telnet links in urls not allowed?

Asked By: Chaim    Date: Sep 07    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 2824

I am trying to insert a url: telnet://xxx.xxx.edu/ into an url field
and I'm getting the "field contains invalid data" error. What are
valid url types?

If I remember correctly, in v2, only http:// was allowed  in some places,
not even https://

In v3, I believe I've successfully used http://, https://, and ftp://
but telnet:// was not a valid option.

I think that in both cases the code to modify this is in one of the WSS
DLLs. However, in v3, you could create your own site column to house
URLs with whatever validation you want.
