technical difficulty enabling SSL

Asked By: Mackenzie    Date: Jan 25    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 811

heres what im doing in my attempts to enable SSL for central administration -

selfssl.exe from the IIS resource kit is what im using to sign certs. my command to install cert on portal:

selfssl /N:CN=SERVERNAME /K:1024 /V:365 /S:2 /P:443

certificate installs on second virtual server instance (2).

Then I tell SPCA like this:

stsadm -o setadminport -port 15355 -ssl

now i can go to https://servername:15355 and everything works fine.. but, "it" didnt update the hyperlink on http://servername/_layouts/1033/default.aspx titled "Go to SharePoint Portal Server central administration", it still has the non ssl link.

so how do we update that link? is there an interface way to do it?

any ideas?
