Task List sends out wrong alerts

Asked By: Virgil Herring         Date: Mar 19, 2010      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 646

I have got a very strange problem. We have a tasks list on which multiple
assignees are enabled. The expected behavior of the list is that when a task is
reassigned, the original assignees are notified as well the new assignees. Now
here is the problem statement-

I originally assigned it to - A.
Notification goes to A.
I reassigned it to A&B.
The alert goes out to A&B as expected, but also to some random people C, D and
E. The number of people is not defined, and we have not been able to logically
group these people.

Is there any explanation on why this is happening. These people have not
registered for list alerts.

It seems that alerts  fails to send notification  to appointed people.
To solve this problem, you can try SharePoint alert  reminder, a
product of SharePoint Boost

I see above that SharePointBoost are back to their old trick of scatterguning blatant plugs and incorrect info about... hey ho...

re: Sending emails to random, incorrect people  on task  updates

This is a known issue with SharePoint and there is a hotfix available :-

Did you ever hear anything back on this or were able to resolve the
issue? We are having the same exact issue and cannot figure out why.
