I can guarantee that this will break things in at least a couple cases.
1) URL lengths - some of these limits are meant to keep you from going over URL
length limitations in IE. If the URLs get too long, IE won't be able to
retrieve the resource.
2) Office metadata - some of the limitations are meant to keep fields that
appear as office metadata from going over the 256 char limit. If the fields are
too long, they will behave unpredictably.
