Survey(List) Column Limits --

I understand that there are default limits set by Sharepoint based on
the content of the data in the columns. Does anyone know if it is
possible to modify this limit in the database? and where one would do
so?

I don't think it's possible. Even if it was, I wouldn't suggest it as it will
make your server unsupported...

It´s only controlled by a JavaScript routine. You can remove this
function and your data will be saved into the database. I cannot give
any warranty about this ... but it works.

I can guarantee that this will break things in at least a couple cases.

1) URL lengths - some of these limits are meant to keep you from going over URL
length limitations in IE. If the URLs get too long, IE won't be able to
retrieve the resource.
2) Office metadata - some of the limitations are meant to keep fields that
appear as office metadata from going over the 256 char limit. If the fields are
too long, they will behave unpredictably.
