Subscriptions web part and impact

Asked By: Hannah    Date: May 01    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 898

Has anyone done any benchmarking or time trials on how much the
subscriptions web part impacts initial load time? Ie, how long does the
page come up with and without the subscriptions web part?

If no-one else has the answers handy, I'll do the test and post results.

Sorry it took so long. My tests show about 1 second shaved off without
the subscription, and users have emailed me saying things seem faster.
Of course, it might have been my re-install of sharepoint and SP1 and
restore. See past posts from me on what class server system I have.

There are a few customizations that are gone due to the reinstall, so
it's a possibility that the speedup was due to the customization, so I
don't know. Things like the web  part catalog and some changes I made to
the search web part  (on the front page) where the default scope wasn't
"This site" but instead the content source that scans the document

I'll be re-enabling those customizations when I get around to it.
