stsadm createweb and quick launch

We have found that when we script a web using stsadm -o createweb that
there is no entry made under sites for it in the quick launch, but
when using the GUI, an entry in the quick launch is created. Does
anyone know of a method to script the creation of webs that will mimic
the GUI.
