Strange search gatherer log entry

Asked By: Stephanie    Date: Feb 16    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1032

The strange log entry is:
4/30/2004 6:13:39 PM Add http://www.usf.edu" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.usf.edu
The address was excluded because crawl depth restrictions were
exceeded

But the starting address is:
Content source URL: http://www.usf.edu" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.usf.edu
Limit page depth: 9
Limit site hops: 6

Since that is the very first page in the search, why would it be
excluded? Yes, 300000+ other pages are being indexed! So it does work.
By the way, that page is a MSCMS produced web page. Could that be a
factor?

I think I can answer my own question!

This is a link to that page  from another link and the cumulative depth
getting to this point exceeds the limit.
So this is a recursive trip to the home page - not an intial visit.

Sorry to waste the bandwidth.
It's been way too long a day.
