strange issue in SSP(Shared Service Provider) ...Service account

I am facing one strange issue in *Central admin*.Service account is not
working for SSP in my MOSS2007 application . I am able to open the *Operation
tab* and *application management tab* in the *Central admin* but i cant
able to access the *SSP*.

in the production server I am not able to login into any other
sitecollections with the service account ... but i am able to access the

all the site collection out side the Production server with the same service
account .

A wierd thought. Did you check whether the password for the Service Account
running SSP got changed or not?

This sounds like the infamous "loopback protection" feature in IIS. This
prevents you from logging into a site  on the machine itself.

See the Microsoft KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896861 for a
description of the issue  and a fix. You can fix the issue with a registry entry,
or just download a "fix it for me" program from Microsoft that makes the entry
automatically.
