Strange access denied error

  Asked By: Madeline    Date: Jul 26    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1192

I have an issue that is driving me crazy.

I am continuously getting a SharePoint access denied error message
whenever I try to change something in a security group setting, in spite
of the following:

* I am one of the site collection administrators

* I am listed as the group owner

* I have given myself full control in the policy for web
application settings in Central admin

* I have even tried the same things while logged in as the app
pool identity account

Several attempted changes trigger the Access Denied messages, including:

* Changing security group settings

* Adding users to the security group

* Removing users from the security group

Any thoughts? Anyone?

I had a similar issue, turns out if the groups are OOB sharepoint groups you'll have to make sure you're added as a member in those groups as well else you won't be able to access those groups and their settings...hope that helps
