Starting up speed

Can anyone tell me if it is usual for Sharepoint V1 to load slowly
(10 seconds or so,) as a home page. If I change the home page to
anything else, it loads in a flash (2-3 secs). Does it depend on
content, or is V1 just slow and I should get used to it.

The more web parts you have on the Home dashboard, the longer it takes
to load. Frankly, load times of 5-10 seconds for V1 are not unusual.

Is this the first time that it is accessed in the morning, or does it happen
every time? If it is only the first thing in the morning you can implement a
warm up script.
