Start this workflow to approve publishing a major version

I've created an Approval workflow that should automatically start
when a user publishes a major version of a document in a library. The
workflow starts no problem when the user Publishes the document from
the site - so when they click Publish Major, it takes them to the page
to choose approvers.

The problem is that when they check in and choose major version
directly from Office 07. It checks the document in but doesn't start
the workflow, it just sets the Approval Status to pending, therefore
assigning the approval task to anyone with approval rights (without
workflow)

Anyone run into this problem before? I'm trying to make this is easy as
possible for the Document Author. And would rather not require them to
have to go to the web to do it.

The problem is that you don't normally get the Initiation Screen (where to pick
approvers) if you start the workflow automatically. If you want them to be able
to change from the default approvers from Office you have to start the workflow
manually. You can do this from Office 07 Workflow menu.

So I went ahead and changed the settings for that workflow to be able
to be manually started (leaving 'Start this workflow to approve
publishing..)

And at that point when the user checks in a major version from Office
07, it automatically starts the Approval workflow, without them
having to manually choose it.

Interesting workaround, but if it works then I was indeed only half right.
Normally, the Initiation form only shows when workflows are started manually
since you aren't guaranteed to have a context to show the form in when started
automatically. Interesting that in this instance it works. I'm glad it does,
but really didn't expect it to.
