The SSP Timer Job Distribution List Import Job was not run.

Asked By: Ray    Date: Oct 22    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 8832

I currently get this error in the Event Viewer.

The SSP Timer Job Distribution List Import Job was not run. Reason:
Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at
this computer

I know its for our domain account of "sspservice" from checking the SP
logs. I have tried just about every blog posting (at least 5 or 6
different things) on Google about this issue to no avail.

Only think that seems to work is an iisreset, But that only work for
about 12 hours or so and issue returns. Also strage thing is that in the
Security tab in Event Viewer this account does successfully login and is
granted a whole bunch of special permissions. So its not at the OS auth
level. The service runs fine.

I have two questions:

(1) Was anyone able to solve this issue? And any suggestions?

(2) Most importantly! Does anyone know what this error actually affects
in terms of functionality not working correctly? Meaning, if this error
occurs alerts won't go out or some other issue with "functionality" and
SP usability? Not a single blog post I read mentions what this actually

Sounds to me like this job  imports the distribution  lists from your domain  into
sharepoint. The user  you are using may have to be an admin on the domain to
access that list. You may want to check this users permissions  and see if it has
the right permissions to access the Active Directory schema.

i think you must give permission for this account  on the Server , and it must
have permission on all sites (It Can be only Read) , and try to check the
services on the computer and check which account that run  this services and be
sure that it is the same account that is found in the Shared Services because
changing account from Services from the Services Console makes problems cuz it
isnt changed in the sharepoint so it make conflict .
