SSL woes

Asked By: Vasudev    Date: Sep 06    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 766

I implemented SSL on our SPS server and I'm facing a weird problem, that some of
the webparts (i.e. Quick Links, Categories) produce strange output. The
QuickLinks webpart displays things like:
system .....
I found a knowledge base article but it did not solve my problem. I have set
application protection level on the portal virtual directory to LOW - no
difference. Several times I deleted and recreated the extranet site doing
everything just as described in MS extranet whitepaper.
Damn, nothing helps. The site is working perfect with its FQDN when using HTTP.
When I switch to HTTPS I always end up with the above problem.

I finally fixed that strange  SSL problem:

deleted  all external sites from IIS -> Reboot

Added the external site  again with the extranet  vb script from MS -> Reboot

Added SSL as described in Extranet.doc -> Reboot

Again rebooted twice, then suddenly it worked!

Don't know why, but I'm lucky now.

i had the same problems, it was a problem  with the certificate.
maybe something ist wrong with it, or you have to install the server  certificate
on the sps  server.

What was the problem  with your cert? How did you solve  it?

i opened the certificates.msc snap in and added the certificate to the
"Trusted Root Certification Authorities\Certificates" on the SPS server.

I gave your hint a try - unfortunately without success. The SSL problem
persists. Still those silly Links:
