SQL Server Authentication Mode

Asked By: Deandre    Date: Jun 21    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 844

I am wanting to migrate a site collection out of MSDE and get it set
up on our SQL server. Two questions.. what is the best way to bring
the site collection databases over and get them inside of SQL and
does SQL HAVE to be running in windows authentication mode?

According to Microsoft, SQL Server must be in Windows Authentication.
Probably the best way to move the entire Site Collection is to create an
FWP using FrontPage.

Can you point me to a help doc that would cover how to do that from
within FrontPage?

Another question... from some quick searching on the web it looks
like that from Front Page I basically say open web and point to
http://SiteCollectionName and then when I have that open within
Front Page I can export a web package from under the tools menu.
When I do that, will it export all of the additional sites created
within the site  collection? I wonder because it says how big the
package is going to be and it is only like 400k and the database is
140mb. When it does the export it is making a copy and not pull the
data out of where it is now right??

No - Smigrate.exe, which is what you're using here, will export only the
local site.
