SQL Reporting Services missing from Central Admin

  Asked By: Ruchir    Date: Jan 16    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 24058

I installed SQL Reporting Services on the same server as my current
sharepoint server and I am having trouble. I created the database
reporting services datbase from the reporting configuration GUI and
made sure that the sharepoint integration checkbox was checked. I
clicked apply and the settings took. All of the service accounts used
have admin access to the box, farm admin to sharepoint, and dbo to the
databases. The sharepoint integration tab in the reporting services
configuration tool has a green check mark and when I click it the link
to sharepoint central admin is there. When I follow this and go to
central applications there is no Reporting Services area. I clicked
sites actions --> site settings --> site features. and the Reporting
Services Integration feature is NOT in the features list within central
admin. I have followed all of the microsoft recommendations for
configuration and searched high and low across blogs and google to find
an answer and have drawn a blank. Any suggestions?

I didn't see mention of you installing the add-in. This is required on all of
the front-end servers. Did this take place? As far as the RS settings  are
concerned, you will find them on the Operations tab  of the CA page once the
add-in has been installed.

Yes the Addins were installed  and I double checked  to ensure that
they were there by looking under add remove programs. Everything
looks like it is running fine in the reporting  services configuration
tool. I just can't see them in the SP CA area. You mention that
they are in the Operations tab. Everything I have read and saw
points to the reporting services  section showing up on the right hand
side of the applications  tab.

Another stupid question: did you run an IISRESET on the front-end servers? I
don't remember if it requests a reboot or not.

Yes, I reset IIS, I rebooted the server, I reinstalled reporting
services and the sharepoint  component, played with all the settings,
recreated the databases, drank a couple of beers, pulled some hair
out, and still no dice.

Weird. My only suggestion would be to perform a re-install of the add-in. I've
heard that it can be spotty,

I have repaired and reinstalled the addin two times each. No dice

I also have looked in the web.config of the site  and the lines for
reporting services  are there.
Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91"
Namespace="Microsoft.ReportingServices.SharePoint.UI" TypeName="*"
Safe="True" />
Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91"
TypeName="*" Safe="True" />

I can also see the reporting  services viewer webpart in my site
collection. However, I still don't see anything inside of central

If I look under my site  collection features  in my default web
application the reporting  Server Integration feature  is there. If I
activate it the reporting services  tab shows up in the actual site
collection with one option, Managed Shared Schedules. If click  this
link then it returns an error that says: An unexpected error occurred
while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server
is available and configured for sharepoint  integrated mode. I assume
this is becausee I have not configured the stuff inside of the
central admin.
