SQL Boxes for Production Environment...

Date: May 29    Category: MOSS    Views: 417

I have one client has a query which is as follows:

Currently they are planning to have two SQL boxes for
production server for a newportal. One active and one passive (working as
redundant server). They told me that these are physical servers and currently
they do not have the SAN storage available, it will be made available in 2
months€™ time. They wanted to know that if we setup those two servers now.
Later
on how easy it would be to move to SAN storage with the same installation. OR
we have to setup those boxes again with those SAN storage ?
So actually they need some complete information
that how much effort would be required to migrate after two months AND any
bottlenecks with hardware, software or even licensing so that they can pre-plan.

If you set up the MS-SQL server using an alias then it's just a matter of
migrating the storage once you have your cluster online. SharePoint won't know
the difference once the databases are brought on-line in the new location.

Moreover, is there any documents or URLs that can be shared,so that I can also
share it with the client.
