We are still in a beta mode with MOSS and working out procedures before
we go live. Here, SQL is managed entired by another department and the
SQL dba is telling me that she runs a backup every night on all of the
databases. When I run back up from Central Admin the only messages I
get are warnings on each web app says this:
"The previous full SQL backup for the database xxxxxxxxx was performed
by another backup tool and may not be restored correctly."
Is the SQL db backup all that is really required or is the SharePoint
backup doing other things that we will need to have to successfully
restore the farm or components of the farm? Should I be doing the
SharePoint backup in addition to the SQL backup and just ignore those
warnings?
