I have been asked to create a new master page for MOSS 2007. I am stuck on the
SPSWC:SearchBoxEx control for the master. The comps look very different than
this control. Here is the code so far:

<asp:ContentPlaceHolder id="PlaceHolderSearchArea" runat="server">
<SPSWC:SearchBoxEx id="SearchBox" RegisterStyles="false"
TextBeforeTextBox="" TextBoxWidth="250"
GoImageUrl="<% $SPUrl:~sitecollection/Style Library/en-us/Custom
Styles/Newmont Mining/search_glass.jpg %>"
GoImageActiveUrl="<% $SPUrl:~sitecollection/Style
Library/en-us/Custom%20Styles/Newmont%20Mining/search_glass.jpg %>"
GoImageActiveUrlRTL="<% $SPUrl:~sitecollection/Style
Library/Images/Search_Arrow_RTL.jpg %>"
GoImageUrlRTL="<% $SPUrl:~sitecollection/Style
Library/Images/Search_Arrow_RTL.jpg %>"
UseSiteDefaults="true" DropDownMode = "DisplayScopeDD"
SuppressWebPartChrome="true" runat="server"
WebPart="true" WebPartId="{05DB52CD-CEC9-46F0-BE8D-1579B8FDC830}"

However, the comps call for a different size look/feel to the drop down box and
then the search_glass.jpg needs to be overlaid on the textbox.

Does anyone have any links of how this control can be modified for look and
feel? Anything will help at this point.

If you are using MOSS then the Search input box is a compiled server control
called SearchBoxEX. You can't change the items you want to change directly in
the HTML code. You will need to create  your own server control that looks the
way you want it too and has the same functionality. Then deploy that using a
control feature so that it overlays the existing control. That is not a simple
task and will require a lot of custom programming.
