I am just about to install SPSv2 beta to evaluate it.

I have a CD for Sharepoint Portal Server 2003 and one for Windows
Sharepoint Services.

Do I install both of these products? In any order?
Does the document mgt capability install by default on the same

Any good "getting started with v2" docs out there?

We have been using (& are very familiar with v1) and v2 is so different
I think I need to kick start!

I installed the Portal, it automatically installed the services so I
never used the second cd.

I did have a problem gettign the portal  to work with a standalone SQL
server, somehow I had to enter a admin password, but never got asked
which SQL server  I wanted to use. So I ended up installing with teh
Desktop Engine.

You just need to install  Sharepoint Portal Server. Doc management is taken
care of Windows Sharepoint Services (WSS)

no you just have to install  sharepoint server  2003 cd only.
also don't forget to install Front page server extensions in IIS.

i have few documents but they only gives the overview of things supported in
sharepoint ( if u want i can send u or u can very well search on website ).

use sdk as start but most of it is incomplete now.

Yes, v2 is very different... what you will find is that it uses
Windows sharepoint  Services (formerly SharePoint Team Services)
essentially to make subsites to the portal. If you hadn't used Team
Services before, the new version basically uses that for the
document management function, rather than through the portal  itself.

The MS website is the best source of information other than what you
can find in these chat groups:
