Can you spsbackup...

Asked By: Carolyn    Date: Mar 10    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 539

Here's my situation...
I have some content on a dev installation on a virtual server.
I have a new install on the production box.
When I try to go to SharePoint Backup and Recovery on the new box it
tells me it cannot find the config db. And that it needs to be in a
server farm. Meh, when I go to the old dev box it won't let me open
that either citing service pack issues. It looks like the easiest
thing is probably just to recreate the new portal from scratch using
the old one as a guide.

‘Spsbackup’ is meant to be run on the same service  pack level. I don’t think we extend the site before restores either.

I.e check your steps carefully! The resource kit book and admin docs cover this pretty well.

What problems are you experiencing? Mauro Cardarelli blogged about
one problem he had, see

The post-SP2 hot fix may be the answer.
