SPS2003: Indexing Portal and Non-Portal Content

Asked By: Wayne Fox         Date: Sep 19, 2009      Category: Sharepoint      Views: 322

I have a problem with the indexing for the Portal and Non-Portal
contents in SPS 2003. I originally set my portal site to use Basic
Authentication. I then tried to manually run a full update on the Portal
and Non-Portal content and it fails. But when I changed it from Basic to
Integrated Authentication and try to run the full update manually again,
it works fine. Has anybody seen this problem? Is this a bug or am I
missing something?

There is an option to say "Do not allow Basic authentication" when you
go to the settings for the Portal and Non Portal indexes and set an
account on the properties. See KB298789 to find out how to get to this
option.

You should also read KB284067 to see if that applies.
