SPS2003 DR / Fault Tolerance

Asked By: Jaron    Date: Apr 09    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 462

I am researching strategies for DR / Fault Tolerant scenarios to
implement on SharePoint 2003.

Basically, in a nutshell:

- We have a single data-center location

- We have a medium-server farm (2 FeW, 1 idx/job, and 1 2-node
SQL 2000 A/P cluster)

- We have procured an offsite location for our DR site with its
own hardware/bandwidth/etc in another State

- We would like to clone this environment (either physically or
virtually) in our DR site with the SQL data replicated in case our main
data center is destroyed

- We are using Recover Point to replicate the SQL data

I am wondering though about the application boxes (Web Front-ends and
the Index/Job box) - how these could be cloned. We would like the whole
scenario to be able to be activated and/or put on-line in the case of a
disaster.

Can anyone share knowledge or experience in these regards? Or any
comments, questions or recommendations would also be welcomed.
