SPS2001 and Win2K SP4

Asked By: Stevie    Date: Jan 11    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 875

we installed SP4 to our windows server running SPS2001 and
after restarting...it blue screens. :( We manage to uninstall SP4 but
after doing so SPS, will not open, and all web folder contents gone.
Can restore and get it up and running again (cscript
msdbmback.vbs -r)? A backup was not made <long story>. Are our
documents lost?

I would first try a repair. If you have not made  a backup  then you can not do a
restore and I am not sure that a restore  would change any of the files or
settings that may have been changed anyway.

A repair should work. I had a problem when SPS stopped working, the service
would hang and freeze the server. I booted up in safe mode, changed the SPS and
IIS related services to manual and then booted normally. Then I ran a repair of
Sharepoint install. The data was still there however, I did loose my
customizations.
