SPS 2007 error "Content index on Portal_Content could not be initialized

can someone help me with this sharepoint search error.

When i check my event log i get this error message "Content index on
Portal_Content could not be initialized. Error The content index is
corrupt. 0xc0041800.Component: 2fc62b5f-786c-440c-8a1a-d614590bf5dd"

how do i repair the content index or fix this problem.

i found out that reseting all the crawled content  in central
admin>>shared services>>configure search settings.

it rebuilt the index  and very thing works fine.

another way is to restore the sql server database with the most recent
one.

i'm yet to find out if there is a way to repair the corrupted index :)
