SPS 2007 and AutoCad

Asked By: Adrianna    Date: Mar 18    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 1087

In SPS 2007 if we talk about out of the box features, what kind of
integration does it offer to AutoCad files. Can the readers view these
files without any add on s/w and plug ins? Assume that the AutoCad s/w
will not be on the client machine.

I think there's a plugin for .dxf files so that you can open, collaborate
and read, write to them but not natively as far as I know.

Did they add that to 2007?

I use one of my wss sites for nothing but 3d geometry/models/renders etc.
http://3dsplash.com/default.aspx The spoon on

The front is one of my models.

SQL scrambled those and my shaders and converted them to text until I
specified the right extensions and put a few icons in the config file.

There's a huge market in 3D both architectural and artist driven for greater
web based collaboration and I would love to explore dev solutions with wss.

I think a few plug-ins for various modeling and graphics apps which tie into
SQL and wss and sps  would blow the doors down on all these nasty php sites.

Extranet forums based on wss are a critically needed service as well I
think, but so far, 2003 is just a nasty old permissions beast.
