SPS 2003 License

Asked By: Janet    Date: Oct 23    Category: Sharepoint    Views: 756

New to this MicroSoft word.

Wondering how this licensing system works. Bought a 5 user license with
software. I installed in one box and made it as production. Now I want to build
a dev box.

Do i need to buy the software again?

There are a couple options for licensing, what you need to buy depends on which
you choose. In general SPS licensing goes like this:

Prerequisites:

1) Windows Server - you must have the correct licensing for this - a server
license, a CAL for each user in your company, AND either a CAL for each external
user or an "External Connector" license.
2) SQL Server - either a CAL for each user OR a per-processor license

SPS 2003 licensing:

You need to have a server license  for each server with SPS installed (in a farm,
this is every server except the one running just SQL). You also need to have a
CAL for each user in your company AND either a CAL for each external user or an
"External Connector" license.

All the info is here -
